HAAPPY THANKSGIVING AND MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

IIII went to Paradigm's play on Saturday!  And it was amazing!  And it also made me so homesick for everybody and everything.  But you know what I'm starting to realize whilst coming to Westlake?  I'm starting to realize that life really is what you choose it to be.  If you want to see things, you will, and if you don't want to see them, you won't (can be both a good thing and a bad thing).  I saw so many people at Paradigm who hated it, because either that's what they were expecting (whether or not they realized it or not) or that's what they came to expect.  I also saw people at Paradigm who loved it, who expected to have a great time and a great experience, and that's what the chose to see.  The same is true of Westlake.
Every time and place has its ups and downs.
You know what's way cool?  I had an amazing aha moment on Monday.  I was feeling all sad that I wasn't at Paradigm, and questioning my decision to go to Westlake, and thinking I was not gonna have a very good day, when I got up for scripture study.  I was just kinda flipping around the scriptures, not really paying attention to what I was reading, when a word in the topical guide jumped out at me.  It was "end".  I flipped to the first scripture I saw.  I quote.
Ecclisiastes 6:3-14
3 "Sorrow is better than laughter, for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made better."
God's whisper to me: I know you're sad, Abbey, but that's okay.  You're becoming a better person because of it.  I love you.
8 "Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof, and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit."
God's whisper to me:  Think of all the great times you had at Paradigm, Abbey.  Did it start out like that?  Not completely.  Be patient and wait out this lonely spot, because the end of it is going to be awesome.
10 "Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these?"
God's whisper to me:  I know what I'm doing, Abbey.  Don't worry about it.  I want you at Westlake.  That's where you need to be right now.
14 "In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider: God also hath set the one over against the other, to the end that man should find nothing after him."
God's whisper to me: Be happy with what you have, Abbey, and don't worry about what you don't.  Sometimes I don't give you everything all at once, because if you have it all, it's harder to remember where it came from.
God's whisper again and again, every time I read the scriptures:  Abbey, I love you more than you can possibly imagine.

Wow, guys.  God knows us.  He loves us.  And He wants to help us, if we will just open our scriptures, open our hearts, open our arms, and let Him.

  1. Abbey, you are an amazing person and I know that where ever you are, friends are never far away (whether new or old).:) people cannot help but be attracted to your happy personality and learn from your strong testimony! you know that we all miss you at Paradigm and you can come to us when ever you feel lonely. But, you are supposed be where you are. Westlake needs your strong spirit; show them that Paradigm shift!! yes, you will probably not be able to help all 50,000 students, (I'm rounding:D) but maybe you can effect 100 people for the better. God has put you where he wants you, it's up to you to be a good royal daughter and the princess we all know you are. if you do what is right, happiness will follow on your heels; don't try to run from it. :D
    Love ya!!!
